Every summer there is new blockbuster movie released involving a superhero.The titular character races to save the day keeping the general population out of harms way, restoring peace throughout the land. Unfortunately, in real life and in our industrial workplaces, there is no Captain America or Spiderman or even a Transformer to swoop in and keep us safe.
What we do have are occupational health and safety organizations filled with super men and women who are always striving to improve working conditions to keep workers out of harm’s way long before they need saving.
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is the U.S. federal agency that conducts research and makes recommendations to prevent worker injury and illness. NIOSH research is key to these efforts and provides practical solutions to identified problems. They work to promote a healthy, safe and capable workforce that can rise to the challenges of the 21st Century.
