There are important considerations when choosing an LFL monitor: Response Accuracy, Response Speed, Condensation Issues and Failsafe. We've discussed response accuracy, response speed, and condensation issues, let's focus on the last one, failsafe:

A sometimes overlooked aspect when selecting the right analyzer is if it is failsafe, "A fail-safe or fail-secure device is one that, in the event of a specific type of failure, responds in a way that will cause no harm, or at least a minimum of harm, to other devices or danger to personnel."

What this means is if the analyzer were to go into a fault condition where the readings can no longer be relied upon, does the analyzer have the capability to alert the operator to this situation.

If you’re depending on this monitor to keep your people and equipment safe, it must have the ability to alert you if it is not functioning properly.
